Health Clinic Health Clinic Voluntario Global

Voluntario Global works with a number of different projects, one of which is a health center located an hour and a half outside of Buenos Aires.

As a Communications volunteer, I get to visit all of the projects where Voluntario Global helps. I was lucky to visit the Health Center Project last week, and here are some things I would like to say about it:

— The people who work at the health center are all so unbelievably kind and welcoming. Like I said, I am not a volunteer who frequents the center, I only visited one day to take photos for the communications team, but these people treated me as if I was a part of their team. They offered me coffee and mate, enthusiastically introduced me to their patients, and talked to me during their breaks about their work and asked me about mine.

— The center has everything! Pediatricians, OBGYNs, a pharmacy, classes on STD prevention and birth control, vaccinations, and more. No matter what you need, this center has it and will gladly treat you.

— They work to educate the community about different illnesses and diseases and their rights as patients. The day I visited, the center was preparing for their presentation on women’s rights during child birth, but they also work to teach people how to live with diabetes and hypertension, how to spot domestic violence and so much more. Every month the clinic has a different campaign to educate the community.

This health clinic was unlike anything I had ever seen. It is completely free for it’s patients and it is filled with passionate doctors and educators working to make their community a healthier place. I think the world would be a much better place if there were more places like this.
