I wasn’t originally supposed to work in the soup kitchen; I had started out just working on the communications team for Voluntario Global, but during a short visit to the project for interviews I was inspired by the women in the kitchen to return. I went to the kitchen twice a week to volunteer and every time without fail I would never want to leave. These women create such a lively, fun-loving environment you want to spend every possible second working with them, and even after you leave them their influence leaves you wanting to do everything possible to help everyone and everything. The majority of my work with these women was centered around cooking, but the things I have learned from them expand far outside the kitchen.
