Reflecting on her experience, Brierly told us how volunteering has helped her to realize how much we take for granted. Her advice to other volunteers is to be enthusiastic, and while at the project be forward and take initiative, helping before being asked and finding tasks independently when they haven’t been given, in order to get the most out of the experience. Despite the challenge of a language barrier, Brierly told us how she worked together with the ladies at the project and fell into a routine, quickly feeling comfortable about her roles without the need to fluently speak each other’s languages.
